After the Storm

Last weekend's storm swelled the Assabet River until it could fill an Olympic pool about every 3 minutes.

That's about 15 times what it carried before the storm.

The rain stopped Monday night. The river kept rising until Tuesday morning.

Since the storm, about 1,400 Olympic pools of water have flowed past Maynard.

Go see the Assabet this weekend.

Look for the wrack line: debris the high water left.

Data: USGS river gauge, provisional. Never walk or drive into flood water.
